When Hatoessential first began, we dreamed of creating the perfect linen hat — pure, breathable, and gentle on little heads under the Australian sun.

But our first linen samples, though beautiful, didn’t meet the level of protection we wanted for children. With a UPF of 35, it was almost there — but not enough for the sunshine we know and love.

After months of conversations with fabric specialists, we discovered that polyester, though synthetic, offered the durability and protection our little explorers needed. Still, something inside us longed for that natural, tactile charm of linen.

Then one ordinary day, in the middle of a beauty department, a satin hairband caught my eye — soft, glossy, and kind to the hair. It felt like a small revelation: what if hats could protect, glow, and care — all at once?

And so, The Loom & Luster Co. was born — a meeting of linen’s calm beauty and satin’s gentle brilliance.
